Something not working? Email hello@nabmac.app. I make Nab on my own, so a reply can take a few days. The usual problems and their fixes are below.
Nab can't see my screen
Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording and make sure Nab is switched on. If it already is, switch it off and on again, then quit and reopen Nab — macOS only applies the change after a relaunch.
Nab isn't in the Screen Recording list
Open Nab from your Applications folder and press ⌘⇧2; macOS adds Nab to the list the first time it asks. If an old copy of Nab is listed, select it, click –, and try again.
macOS keeps asking again
When macOS asks, choose "Allow For One Month". It asks again about once a month for every app that captures the screen — that's macOS policy, not something Nab can change.
macOS says Nab accessed my system audio
macOS bundles screen and system audio into one permission, so its reminder mentions both for every app that has it. Nab only takes still pictures — one per display each time you freeze — so the count adds up quickly, but Nab never records audio.
The menu bar icon is gone
If you ⌘-dragged Nab's icon out of the menu bar, open Nab again from your Applications folder and the icon comes back. The freeze shortcut keeps working in the meantime.
Change the freeze shortcut
Click Nab's icon in the menu bar, choose Freeze & Select Hotkey…, and press the shortcut you want. If ⌘⇧2 does nothing, another app may be using it — pick a different one there.
Still stuck?
